Taking pix down by the creek

Took the kids and the dog down to a creek for a walk and some shooting practice.
Note to self, find the manual flash.. and next time take instruction book.

Manual settings are on AND i can't find the flash!

Seiously.. I want the flash!  It is still hiding.. Left my book at home!
Can't find flash, gonna have to do automatic.. will practice looking and shooting instead

I like the colour and texture differences here
Think I moved the camera way to quickly

New camera and some shots

I couldn't work out my new camera for the life of me so I went to visit  my ole buddy n pal Dawn who, with her husband Karl, owns I Do Cinema and had me a technology lesson.
Now she is ready to go taking some pix.
Remember to start with have iso on 100 aperature on 60
Automatic settings... thought the lighting looked ok, fluro lights in my girl cave

Rick Maynard and Megan Jenkinson

The story of these pix evokes strong feelings which makes one look and ponder....
To my uneducated eye, it looks like the photos are left natural.  In the healing garden,
I like how everything is a little blurry..(unless it is my eyes!) maybe there is a slight wind.

In death in exile I notice although the grave stone is focal point, the fence line is like a border
and the expanse of land around extends itself toward the story of the photograph.

Technobabble = Brain drain

Todays class was...." FULL" of information on Photoshop and it was very fast paced for me.  Technobabble and I are not best friends and by the end of class I certainly had brain drain.

I am studying to learn and so learn I must.  Pushing on.
I am downloading Photoshop which is taking ages, so Im looking around at photographic artists.

I found the Natural Series of Ric Steininger.   http://www.steininger.com.au/
These are spectacular  photographs full of stunning colours and light, but im looking for something a little more abstract.

I think I found it here... http://www.cjtaylorworks.com/series/plastic/plastic.html
This artist is my lecturer.  The dude in the hat as opposed to me in the bandanna...

http://www.cjtaylorworks.com/series/evenstill/evenstill.html- I love the colours and how the fruit pops out in these stills.

Im off to ready the manual of my new DSLR camera. Another thing to learn. Im thinking I should have done a course in how to use a camera properly first. Hopefully over the weekend I can take teach myself how to take some "good" photos.

Attempt with new camera, hmm, just as crap as with my phone.. the overhead light sux...
And I couldnt get onto photoshop.. try again tomorrow... sigh!  I wish I was a natural...

Gotta start somewhere

As I mentioned in my profile, I have spent the last 2 1/2 years teaching cooking as an S.S.O in Primary Schools as Kitchen Specialist with The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Programme.  This wonderful Experience has led me to University to undertake a Degree in Bachelor of Education Design and Technology - Majoring in Home Economics in hope to further expand my involvement in youth and education.

As my minor, I decided to study another of my loves, Art.  Within the Art electives I fond Digital Photography.  Hmm, I am crap at taking photos.  I am a sporadic happy snapper who mainly takes very average photographs of my family, holiday's and food on my phone.  The time has come to change this!

I am looking forward to this experience, and hope that I can learn to create some great pics.. maybe for my next cookbook.....maybe for my wall at home, who knows what can happen!

At the least, I think this knowledge will be an asset if I am to teach Art to High School Student's as I feel this would be one of their favourite areas in the field of Art.

I have picked 8 photo's, to show off some of favourite pics from my past memory making efforts.  No picking on them now... they were just shoot and aim and intended only for myself and at the time I really had no interest in photography.  I was just capturing precious moments in my life and was happy with my results.
Self portrait titled "The Flying Fey"
Taken with my old mobile phone.

OOps! here is a jetty!
I love this, cos it's my kids, and has many happy memories.
I just wonder.. can I move the one in red over a little with photo shop?
Bet I could do lots here with photo shop..there's a thought.

Gotta love camera phones and apps. This is from my cooking blog.

I have taken heaps of pics in search of the perfect pic of my car and caravan..
This isn't it! lol

How cool could this pic have been with a great camera.
It's from a really old phone.

To me, this is an interesting pic.
I mean, what's he looking at? There is no TV there!
He was sick and I sent him out to absorb some of natures healing energies.

This was taken on my new phone and I love it. I love the colours, I love the shaddows, and I love the tyre swing!
So, Im thinking these pics can be used as an improvement gage as I work my way through this course. Wish me luck!

Meet Muffin, she is 15.
I now have a million pics of her thanks to my phone!
P.S. Oi, you with the hat, I put this last pic up for you.  I know you really want to see it, shaddows, bad light and all....
