Playing around with my curly wurly tree

The Curly wurly tree on an overcast day

So, this is the last thing I have to submit for Digital Photography.  It has been a hard learning experience for me and I certainly wish I had been able to pick up things quicker than I did.  Happily I am left with some skills and confidence to drag my camera around and play with photoshop and be able to help/understand and my future students and have the ability to incorporate photography into Home Economics.
I

I wish I had learnt how to do this earlier, I could easily have done a series like this.

Digital Artist Manipulations

Seeing as I have decided I am not yet particularly creative in the area of photography I have gone to see whats out there a bit more....and think about how they did what they did...

Fruit Manipulation

Are all landscapes boring? not to me....

Still practicing with the camera.  A few different angels and focus points.

More panoramas

Putting panoramas into practice.  I used a tripod as low as it could go for the tree panorama.
The bridge panorama needs a little light.

Assignment 6 photos in oil paint mode

These are the images for my assignment 3 but I have adapted them to oil paintings in ps6.  I quite like the effects.

selective blur

Again,  I was too slow to do the progressive blur during class and I thought I wrote down the directions on how to do it and  I still cannot seem to work it out.   So I turn to my Google friend again, couldn’t find what I was looking for, but I found this instead.

Selectively blurring images with ps6.  Iris, blur and tilt shift information. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm0ba62MQ44

Shooting water....

Perfect opportunity for a try shooting water.

More photo shooting practice

Ive worked out that to do good and become better than good, photo's  need to be of a good quality before you can tackle them in photoshop.  Hence, this weekend, Ive been shooting everything! And working on positioning.  These may need a little lightening.

Abandoned homestead

These were taken in the morning light and are without adjustments.  The colours are as they were on the morning.  In the doorway shot I was trying to get the front of the door focussed with the back entry in focus which I couldn't manage with the camera... could do it on photoshop using bracketing.  I did notice bracketing in my camera somewhere also.. need to explore that next time I go.

Fire shots

Still attempting to master my camera.  Took a whole lot of pics while away.  Not feeling like I am getting very far with being huge creative..  But, I got most of my photos is focus and with the correct specs I think that they did not need much work at all if any....In my opinion.

Practicing with fire, I changed the settings to see what would happen. Some focused on the log, some the flame/sparks (  I love these) and lastly I layed on the cold damp dirt when everyone had gone to bed after midnight and played around with close up coals.  These were still a little noisy at 100% but they are getting better.

Artists - Natsky

http://www.natsky.com.au

Having a look for nature pix.  Found Natsky, from Lismore NSW.  Loving the definition in the clouds and the colours.  Looks like pix are taken late arvo/sunset/or even under a full moon.   As many artists her portfolio encompass different areas such as weddings, people, music, urban happenings.  Hers is a very diverse website.
As I look through Artists work I find realise how uncreative I am and that overall I love scenery and landscapes and fun things the most which Is what I would like to do for my final assignment.  I am probably boring in that I  appreciate natural looking photos, although, some like this one is fantastic.  I couldn't upload it so here are links to some awesome pics.  They are obviously photo shopped and have a mystical appeal to me.

I already have a heap of photos I took of ones like these.   The emphasis is on the bark patterns.

Help with technical stuff

As I have needed help with the technical stuff I bought this magazine which has been helpful.  In the back it has a cd which although did not work with my ps6 still gave me a hint at how to do things, specifically layering techniques and help me work out what to look for on you tube.  Its also helped to cement some of the lingo.

This book came with my camera and offers different advise to the magazine.  A uni student wrote it after he had done photography and it is nice and basic for a beginner.  It comes with me when I go out shooting.
